Devil May Cry was probably one of the best PS2 games to hit the market in 2001. The sequel was lacking, to say the least. But DMC3 comes into mind as being one of the most impressive looking games in production right now. The gunslinger in the other games is back, but it's a little different, the game is a prequel to the first game. That means that Dante is younger, but he still is a badass. Come see what awesome info we have for you on this greatly anticipated games of 2005.

This installment seems to bring back the cool factor that really seemed to be lacking in the sophomore title. As it brings back the bad ass demon hunter, it throws in a new character that hasn't been mentioned before...Dante's brother Virgil. He seems to be the main bad guy in this title, and seems to be just as cool as Dante...which will make this title probably even cooler than the first one. I said cool a lot in that sentence, but that is the one word to describe this series. Some original additions into this game will probably bring it to be the best game in the series. Since the game is set before the events in the first game, Dante is young and he hasn't gained that “awesome bad ass' title yet. He is actually rumored of being a immature punk. Since he is a little younger he hasn't fully developed his strengths and his powerful abilities that he had in the first title.

To make up for this you get to choose what kind of fighter you want Dante to be. Several different choices include, gunslinger, sword master, or trickster for examples. The gunslinger allows Dante to aim his two guns in two different directions, and the skills with the guns go up and so on. You will be able to level up the skills as you go on in the game, making certain skills greater than others. You can actually go through the whole game with just upgrading one skill and not worry about getting killed by bosses. That might mean you have to take more time on certain bosses because you don't have a certain skill that they are weak against, but it will make that certain ability super strong if you focus on just one.

There is also a change in the combo system that gave Dante his skill in the first go around. It might be a little tough to learn the combo system at the beginning of the game, so it might not even show up as you learn the controls and different fighting styles of the young demon hunter. But, once you get used to a fighting style and the controls the system seems to be a very addictive and great carry-on to this version of the game. This combo system will tally up throughout the level and the better combos you get the better letter grade you will get at the end of the level. That's right, the letter system is still in place as well, and it keeps track on how well you did in certain levels. The game's difficulty challenges you to get the best letter grades in each level but the better grade you get the more your fighting skill increases. So, my bet would be to play the level as many times as you can so you can get that great letter grade and get your fighting skill upgraded.

Enemy encounters will be broken up throughout the level, along with puzzles (Resident Evil Style), just like the first installment. If you noticed Im not mentioning the second game much, mainly because it didn't have very many new elements and it really wasn't much to talk about. Anyways, the puzzles are a little bit more challenging which forces you to use your brain in some cases and use Dante's skills in others. Lets just hope that the puzzles won't bring any sort of drawback to the gameplay, because we all know we love this game because of the cool action it brings.

The graphics in this game are amazing, as are all the graphics in the upcoming titles for the PS2. The cut-scenes show Dante on how you build him in his fighting style. That's right, whatever fighting style you choose will affect a cutscene later on, this might add some sort of replay value don't you think? Don't forget about Dante's enemies, those creepy crawlies that look like something out of Resident Evil and Silent Hill mixed together with the discovery channel and a puppet show. The smooth flowing creatures in the video clips I have viewed seemed to bring the creatures to life and brought a eerie feeling into the pit of my stomach. Dante sure is one cool cat to be fighting such weird things. The graphics are just amazing on the character designs as well as the environments the young gunslinger runs around in. So much detail was put into environments that in cut-scenes slip into the level somehow to show off the background or part of a building. The developers seem to be taking pride in what they think will be the best game in the trilogy.

Rock music compliments the game's insane action as Dante throws around some cool looking bad guys. The music, effects, and voice acting seem to be one of the best on the console, hopefully adding to the brownie points it will get for the graphics. Gamers with a good system in their room will really appreciate DMC3's option for Dolby Pro Logic II and the great soundtrack that pops up when you run into a room with demons. The gunfire sounds are just amazing as well as the noises that the monsters you are fighting make. The audio will be a big plus for this title.

Scheduled for a March release this game will probably sell out a few times before it regularly appears on the shelves. From the research I have done on this, it seems to be a great game and a great title, I personally can't wait till this game hits the shelves.
